John Johnson, “Old Family Compound Entrance, Ubud, Bali” handcoloured print, pink bricks

John Johnson, a very old friend of ours, lived in Ubud over the years. He became concerned that the need for street parking meant that sadly many of the beautifully made entrances to family compounds would be destroyed. He created his own project of drawing a number of these traditional entrances, had them printed in limited editions of 75 and hand coloured them individually using coloured pencils.

This print 4 /75 shows the lovely detail of the folded palm leaf hangings which would be renewed at different ceremonies.
