John Feeney “Horse and Rider”. Drawing

1957

This is an unsigned drawing by John Feeney in his student years, (c. 1957) with Peter. So much of what  John was to develop in his life shows in this unforgettable drawing, apparently simple. Already he sees the classical forms rather than be diverted by the specific visual treatment e.g.no saddle or bridle. This an archetypal rider and horse in perfect harmony with each other and seen from an unusual perspective. Unframed. The photograph has a bluish tint whereas the paper is creamy.
